Hello! I have been been cruising the web since 1994, coding websites since 2000 and performing search engine optimization since 2005.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this industry as it is constantly evolving, challenges me daily, and is always teaching me new things. I have a huge hunger for knowledge and expanding my depth of it. When my schedule can accommodate, I take online classes through Harvard University’s Extension School. With the exception of Computer Science courses at Harvard, I am completely self-taught, learning my trade through reading everything I can get my hands on, getting my hands dirty and trial and error. Oh and the awesome SEO’s I follow on Twitter who have kindly answered my questions over the years.
My first paying web development gig was over 12 years ago. After a stint working at an Online Marketing Agency, I was hired six years ago by my first legal client handling their Website Development, Website Management, SEO, Social Media Marketing & Paid Search Campaigns. After six years, I am still working with my first SEO client, so I must be doing something right. I believe strongly in Accessibility, Useability and User Experience. Please Don’t Make Me Think. Please don’t put a pull handle on a door if you want me to push.
I am an extremely versatile marketer. I have experience in all phases of the online marketing & web development processes. I am also most equal parts creative, coder & analytical. I love a good brainstorming session and love coming up with original marketing ideas and not just doing what the “other guys” are doing. I also love to code and get down and dirty with technical SEO. On top of these skills, I have a very strong mind for business and love analyzing data and enjoy managing and coaching individuals. I am always working to continually improve my work and refine processes so that my clients get the very best ROI.
I love to talk to people about their websites and frequently “Geek Out” during conversations, leaving non-industry professionals to just stare at me in confusion and silently nod their heads. I constantly hear “I didn’t understand a word you just said, but I am convinced you know what you are talking about”.
What makes me tick:
Aside from being a code geek, I adore decorating and refinishing old furniture, have a love affair with cottages, old barns & Yorkies. I have been married for almost 12 years and have four kiddos (two girls, two boys) ages 11, 7, 5 & 4. I am very much looking forward to this Fall school year when I finally have all 4 in school. What in heavens will I do with all of that free time?
No day can start without a least 3 cups of strong coffee. My second home is Starbucks.
I also proud to be an Iowa Girl. In the past 14 years, I have lived in Illinois, Florida, Ohio, Virgina (DC), Arizona, Nevada & Texas. I also briefly attended both the University of Iowa (Go Hawks) and Arizona State University.
FYI…. I’ve never been great at “About” sections or Bio’s and reserve the right to make future changes and edits to this page as I see necessary.
